Alumni Interview: Kristen Eads

Kristen Eads graduated with an MMB degree in 2006. She is an operations delivery manager at GSK (GlaxoSmithKline).

Where is your hometown?  

“Raleigh, North Carolina”

Why did you choose the MMB program at NC State?  

“I wanted to progress my education in the biological and health sciences in a way that would provide exposure to various industries, work experience, and real-world opportunities to add value to drive business solutions.”

How has the MMB program helped you in your career?

“Developing my communication, presentation, and other soft skills has been invaluable in allowing me to progress through multiple different roles at GSK.”

What are your career goals? 

“I would like to be a senior director in business analytics or brand marketing with GSK.”

Why should prospective students consider applying to the MMB program at NC State?  

“For the same reason I chose it! This program provides invaluable experiences, skills development, and a network of broad thinkers which can only benefit any prospective student’s career.”

What should current students focus on during their time in the program?

“Development of a professional network, soft skills, and building your ‘brand.'”

What is the best career advice you have received?

“You must proactively ask for opportunities – no one will give you anything. Be proactive in developing yourself, and going after the jobs you want, and it will pay dividends.”
