MMB/MBA Dual Degree

Secure a competitive edge in the biotechnology industry.

The biotechnology industry has an increasing demand for individuals with scientific training, who also posses critical business skills in finance, problem-solving, and decision making. Through the MMB/MBA dual degree program at NC State, students gain the skills, knowledge and experience to pursue a career in entrepreneurship or management within the bioscience industry.

Upon completing the MMB program, students can enroll in the Jenkins MBA program at NC State’s Poole College of Management and earn an MBA with a concentration in bioscience management or entrepreneurship.

39.5% of MMB students enter the MBA program

A majority of students earn their MBA in one year

Dual degree holders earn ~17% higher average salary

Internship

Students pursuing an MBA are required to complete a summer internship between graduating from the MMB program and beginning their MBA. This second internship is designed to give students additional professional experience before entering the MBA program. Internships must be in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.

Coursework

Dual degree students may pursue a concentration in either Biosciences Management or Entrepreneurship. The MBA concentration chosen by the student will dictate which MBA electives the student will take in the MMB program.

Through both programs I developed a network of professionals in each area of the industry who have been valuable connections as I have moved into the business world.
