UPDATE: Daily Deposit Threshold Change
On March 31, 2026, the Cashier’s Office updated the Departmental Deposit Guide to reflect the new deposit threshold limit, which requires that all revenues and receipts of $500 or more collected by a state agency be deposited no later than the next business day following the date of collection, with limited exceptions.
NC State has established the following guidelines:
- When $500 or more has been collected, a deposit must be made within one business day.
- A deposit must be made at least once per week, even when less than $500 has been accumulated.
- A deposit must be made at the end of each month. If a month ends during the middle of a week, a deposit should be made before the month-end, regardless of the total accumulated amount.
Please note that the threshold amount previously shared in the March Newsletter and at the CALS Finance Forum meeting on March 31, 2026, is no longer valid. The updated threshold and timeframes should be followed going forward.
