Latest: Research Security Training Requirements
Research security training is mandated for individuals involved in federally funded research by U.S. federal regulations such as the CHIPS Act of 2022 and National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 (NSPM-33).
As of Oct. 15, 2025, all Senior Personnel listed on any NC State proposal must have completed Research Security training within the last 12 months prior to the submission of the proposal.
Therefore, CALS Pre-Award is registering individuals as part of the PINS review process. These individuals will receive an email from REPORTER with steps to access and complete the course. Please take the time to complete the training well in advance of the proposal deadline. If you have not received a REPORTER email and plan to be a Senior Personnel on a USDA or DOE proposal, please email cals_preaward@ncsu.edu to get registered for the course.
As of October 25, 2025, NSF requires that the required Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course include Research Security. NC State’s CITI RCR course has been modified to include a Research Security Module. Please visit Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training for more information.
