New Assistant Dean of Finance and Business Management

We are pleased to share that Maggie Merry, the assistant dean of finance and administration for Poole College of Management, will become CALS assistant dean of finance and business management, effective Sept. 8. Maggie will be stepping into the role previously held by Sean Munday, and will be responsible for Business Services, Budgets and Planning as well as Contracts, Grants and Research Administration, which will continue to be housed under the CALS Business Operations (CBO) umbrella.

We are sincerely grateful for Sean and his leadership during his time with the CBO.

We’re pleased to welcome Maggie to CALS and excited about how she will contribute to our land-grant mission. Her experience in higher ed finance and business will be an asset to the college, along with her relationships across campus.

Maggie started work at Poole College of Management in 2019. Prior to that, she spent more than two decades in finance and business roles at The Ohio State University, including five years as the chief administration officer in the College of Pharmacy.

In her previous role, Maggie had oversight responsibility for finance and human resources initiatives that supported Poole College’s mission. She found ways to control costs and increase revenues in compliance with state regulations and generally accepted accounting practices.

She has developed financial management systems and procedures to guide faculty and staff, as well as prepared reports for state and federal agencies. She has served on university committees and as a liaison with the University Budget Office, Controller’s Office, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and Contracts and Grants.

Maggie holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in criminology and psychology, both from The Ohio State University.

Please join us in welcoming Maggie to the team!
