Food Safety, Education and Training at NC State is dedicated to improving the lives of North Carolina citizens through research, education and outreach regarding food, food safety and food processing. An extension of NC State University Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Science, we work closely with outside industries to encourage and create development and sustainability. Our specialists work in many areas including beverages, dairy, meat, poultry, produce, seafood, food processing engineering, and food entrepreneurial development.
We provide programming and workshops that emphasize industry development and sustainability. Our work to-date produced successful products and processes including honey roasted peanuts, Sweet Acidophilus milk, vitamin-fortified milk, fat replacers in low-fat ice cream, pasteurization and purging processes for pickles and ultra-pasteurized liquid eggs.
