Children at recess. Navy Child and Youth Program and Operation HomePort.

Operation HomePort

NC State University has proudly partnered with the US Navy Child & Youth Programs to host the Operation HomePort (OHP) program.  The collaboration provided NC State interns with opportunities to gain invaluable hands-on experience working with children and youth participating in Navy Child & Youth Programs (CYP), Child Development Centers (CDC), School Age Care (SAC), and teen programs.  Assignments included locations throughout California, Nevada, Maryland, Washington, and Italy.

While it’s been an incredible experience, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to bring the program to a close.  The NC State University OHP program is no longer placing interns at Navy CYP locations. We will continue providing full support to all OHP interns currently assigned to a Navy installation.

Anyone interested in a similar internship experience within the Navy CYP system may consider the Utah Tech Trailblazer initiative.

We want to thank every team member, partner, and client who has been part of the OHP story.  Your support and engagement have meant the world to us.  We wish everyone the best as you continue your professional journey!
