As time changes so do our needs. Investing, improving and developing new facilities enables our college to reach its full potential.

In order for us to deliver exceptional research, teaching and Extension services, we continue to review and improve our facilities. From individual labs to entire buildings, the investments made have had dramatic effects on our ability to deliver innovative solutions to our stakeholders.

NC Plant Sciences Building – $160.2M

We’re improving the world through plant science innovation and making North Carolina the go-to place for agricultural solutions.

NC Food Innovation Lab – $7.2M

NCFIL brings together the latest in food processing equipment, expert food scientists and partners from across the state to help food companies and entrepreneurs get their products to market quickly and effectively.

Agricultural and Human Sciences Commercial Kitchen – $1.4M

With the support of generous donors and our faculty and staff, the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences designed the Dinah E. Gore Teaching and Research Kitchens, a state-of-the-art kitchen complex that will enhance and extend our work in teaching, research and extension.

Sweet Potato Greenhouse Facility – $1.6M

North Carolina is number one in sweetpotato production in the country. The production of exceptional sweetpotato cultivars by the NC State sweetpotato breeding program has made our state a world leader in sweetpotato production.

NC Dairy Education Center and Creamery – $1.8M

Visitors to the Lake Wheeler farm Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and Creamery, can enjoy an ice cream sundae while watching video feeds of the plant in operation, or discovering the many facets of North Carolina’s dairy industry on interactive video exhibits.

Tally Turkey Education Unit – $1.5M

The family’s gift and naming of the unit will allow remodeling, improved biosecurity, decreased labor costs and faster turn time, with a net result of greater turkey research productivity.

$6.5M – E. Carroll Joyner Beef Education Unit

Joyner’s gift will help transform beef cattle education, research and extension programs in North Carolina for generations to come,” See said. “His generosity will ensure this research facility will stay current, be maintained and continue to deliver high-quality beef cattle and agricultural programs that improve the lives of everyone in our great state.
