{"id":581,"date":"2021-08-11T21:21:32","date_gmt":"2021-08-11T21:21:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/microbiology-graduate-program\/?post_type=person&#038;p=581"},"modified":"2025-03-13T18:16:55","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T18:16:55","slug":"ryan-paerl","status":"publish","type":"person","link":"https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/microbiology-graduate-program\/people\/ryan-paerl\/","title":{"rendered":"Ryan Paerl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a native North Carolinian, I excitedly joined the MEAS Department at NC&#160;State in 2017 to began a new marine &amp; aquatic microbiology (bacteria and algae) research group. \u00a0I received my Ph.D. in Ocean Sciences from UC Santa Cruz, and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and University of Copenhagen prior to starting as an Assistant Professor at NC&#160;State.
