Students can discuss career pathways, industry expectations, job opportunities, and other professional development opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workshop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each year, trainees will participate in at least one professional development workshop offered by the Graduate School&#8217;s Professional Development Team. Trainees will reflect on their professional journey using an individual professional development plan (IDP) journal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Networking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Trainees will participate in at least one networking event<strong> <\/strong>each year, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/psi\/news\/bridging-disciplines-generating-solutions\/\">N.C. PSI BRIDGE Symposium<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/grad.ncsu.edu\/professional-development\/careers-outside-of-academia\/a2i\/\">Accelerate 2 Industry (A2I) Program<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/fielddays.ces.ncsu.edu\/\">NC Extension Field Days<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cals.ncsu.edu\/psi\/n-c-psi-hackathon\/\">N.C. PSI Hackathon<\/a>, or DSA Ag Data Jam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Internships &amp; Externships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>GRAD-AID for Ag trainees will complete<strong> <\/strong>internships<strong> <\/strong>with industry, NGO or grower organizations, coordinated with the assistance of members of the Independent Advisory Committee and the University Advisory Committee. Trainees who conduct field work throughout the summer could arrange for extended internships that occur once or twice a week throughout the spring or fall semester or complete an externship in which trainees solve a stakeholder challenge using data analytics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mentoring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>GRAD-AID for Ag faculty mentors participate in a tailored session of the <a href=\"https:\/\/provost.ncsu.edu\/ofe\/mentoring-matters\/\">Mentoring Matters Program<\/a>, a new program developed at NC&#160;State to assist faculty in their relationship with graduate students.
