Audrey Fahey

GRAD-AID for Ag Fellow

Bio

Audrey Fahey is a graduate student in the Genetics and Genomics PhD program and GG Scholar in Dr. Acer Van Wallendael’s lab at North Carolina State University. She completed her B.A. in Biochemistry with a minor in Math at Mount Holyoke College. Between college and joining the PhD program, she worked as a Research Technician at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She first worked in a cancer-immunology lab under Dr. Johannes Yeh, then transitioned to a plant genetics and genomics lab under Dr. Doreen Ware. It’s in the Ware lab that Audrey rediscovered her love of plants and plant biology, and developed an interest in plant genetics and genomics. Through her experiences in both labs, Audrey realized the value of interdisciplinary work. She looks forward to working in the VanWallendael lab on studying the population genetics of agricultural weeds and digging into the interdisciplinary potential of the GRAD-AID for Ag program. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and taking care of her home plant collection.
