Bio

Lauren R. Wilson is a Master’s student in the Department of Entomology & Plant Pathology under the mentorship of Dr. Tim Kelliher at NCSU’s Genome Editing Center.  Her studies include cisgenic gene editing approaches to enhance plant immunity for broad-spectrum disease resistance to oomycete, fungal, & bacterial pathogens in tomato and tobacco. Lauren aspires to leverage gene-editing technologies to expedite the development & commercialization of disease-resistant cultivars for U.S. growers.

Prior to NCSU, Lauren worked as an RA1 on the Delivery & Transformation Team at Terrana Biosciences, where she developed Terrana’s first working viral delivery platform in soybean. During her undergrad at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lauren supported departmental research across four different labs, including UNL’s Plant Transformation Core Research Facility. Her experience includes plant disease diagnostics and contributions to patented ethanol-inducible constructs and noduleless soybeans.
