Although taxes are not deducted from stipend payments, the funds are considered taxable income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When submitting a stipend payment request, please keep the following in mind:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/go.ncsu.edu\/ap-303\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AP-303 Stipend Payment Request<\/a> has been created to assist departments with these types of requests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assign an invoice number, such as Smith1of3,2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>end<\/strong> of the service period as the stipend payment date, not the beginning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm that the recipient address listed on the request matches the address in PaymentWorks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employees are not permitted to receive stipends.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the payment request in ServiceNow 2-3 weeks before the end of service date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional information about stipends can be found in the university\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1_1Giq3lIf95OejwLo-kDYWL-0kBny4XAQg1TqJznDQ8\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.zdgaaxanm94b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Payables Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a reminder, stipends are nominal sums of money provided to support participation in research, training or other academic activities.
