The new competition threshold for informal bidding increased from $29,000 to $31,000. Following is a summary of updates and reminders for<a href=\"https:\/\/procurement.ofa.ncsu.edu\/2025\/08\/25\/updated-procurement-thresholds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> NC&#160;State&#8217;s Procurement Thresholds<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For purchases up to $5,000, no changes:<\/strong> The NC&#160;State Marketplace and the PCard remain the preferred procurement methods and should be selected based on the availability of the required products.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For purchases between $5,000 and $30,999:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-subdued-list\">\n<li>Obtain quotes from three qualified suppliers to ensure the best price and value.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the best value quote of those obtained from a qualified supplier.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit a memo documenting the reason that the State Term Contract is not used, if applicable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit a requisition, required to ensure Capital Assets are adequately captured. Note: A Waiver of Competition memo is not required.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To comply with Procurement guidelines and best practices, the preferred purchasing methods for goods and services should be followed in this order:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-subdued-list\">\n<li>\u00a0Shop the MarketPlace first.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0Utilize the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.doa.nc.gov\/divisions\/purchase-contract\/statewide-term-contracts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> State Term contracts<\/a> or<a href=\"https:\/\/procurement.ofa.ncsu.edu\/convenience-contracts-and-university-specific-agreements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> University and National consortium contracts<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the PCard as the final method.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The state of North Carolina updated its procurement and bidding thresholds.
