{"id":23577,"date":"2025-12-07T14:32:26","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T19:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/business-operations\/?p=23577"},"modified":"2025-12-07T14:32:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T19:32:28","slug":"research-security-training-requirements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/core-support\/news\/research-security-training-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest: Research Security Training Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research security training is mandated for individuals involved in federally funded research by U.S. federal regulations such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/4346\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CHIPS Act of 2022<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov\/presidential-actions\/presidential-memorandum-united-states-government-supported-research-development-national-security-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Security Presidential Memorandum 33<\/a> (NSPM-33).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>As of Oct. 15, 2025, all <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/research.ncsu.edu\/administration\/policies-and-guidance\/covered-individuals-and-senior-personnel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Senior Personnel<\/strong><\/a><strong> listed on any NC&#160;State proposal <\/strong>must have completed Research Security training within the last 12 months prior to the submission of the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, CALS Pre-Award is registering individuals as part of the PINS review process. These individuals will receive an email from REPORTER with steps to access and complete the course. <em>Please take the time to complete the training well in advance of the proposal deadline. <\/em>If you have not received a REPORTER email and plan to be a Senior Personnel on a USDA or DOE proposal, please email <a href=\"mailto:cals_preaward@ncsu.edu\">cals_preaward@ncsu.edu<\/a> to get registered for the course.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>As of October 25, 2025, NSF requires that the required Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course include Research Security.<\/strong>\u00a0 NC&#160;State\u2019s CITI RCR course has been modified to include a Research Security Module.
