Travel Manual Updates Video
The Controller’s Office recently hosted sessions on the updated Travel Manual and released a Travel Manual Video highlighting key changes. The 20-minute video is available to anyone with a Unity ID or on the Controller’s Office Travel Center website under Training & Resources — please take a few minutes to review it.
Travel Manual Updates Released in January 2026
The updated Travel Manual is now live and can be easily searched using “Ctrl + F” to find specific keywords. Updates include guidance on:
- Comparisons: All comparisons must be completed before travel and included in the Travel Authorization (TA).
- Airline Seating
- Personal Travel
- Mileage
- Rental Vehicles
- AP-501 Missing Receipt Form
- Travel Manual Exception Documentation
- Exceptions must be approved by the Department Head; approval cannot be delegated.
- When approving an exception, the Department Head must add a note in the comments section with justification.
Compliance.
All travel with a departure date on or after February 1 must follow the new guidelines. To allow for a smooth transition, if a reimbursement is processed before February 1 with a non-compliant item, the Controller’s Office will send a notification of the updated guidelines. This notification is for informational purposes only and does not indicate denial. Starting February 1, all travel must fully comply with the updated manual.
