Our Coalition is collaborating with multiple partners on a larger effort to accelerate research on this relatively new crop.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are focused on environmental optimization (light, temperature, CO<sub>2<\/sub>, irrigation) of CE cannabis production in an effort to increase the production of both the nursery market (producing cannabis clones) and the market for flower and flower related compounds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This transformative research project is funded through industry membership in the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Coalition. Additionally, the CEA Coalition has provided grant proposal development services for this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-media-divider ncst-media-divider has-indigo-400-box-color with-box box-position-right\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__container\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__image-container\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__image\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/cea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/06\/photo-42.jpg)\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/cea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/06\/photo-42.jpg\" \/><\/div><\/div><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__content-container\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__content\"><div class=\"ncst-media-divider__statement\"><p class=\"ncst-media-divider__statement-content\">Our challenge is increasing the adoptability of cannabis as a crop for different markets such as food, health and personal care products, medicinal, consumer textiles and industrial applications.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The <strong>Plan Forward<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Determine the impact of light intensity and spectra on vegetative and flower yield<\/li><li>Optimization of light, CO<sub>2<\/sub>, substrate and rooting hormones to produce <em>Cannabis<\/em> clones<\/li><li>Model greenhouse <em>Cannabis<\/em> growth prediction and energy usage based on geographical location and environment<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ncst-parallax-container ncst-parallax-container has-indigo-400-background-color with-box\"><div
