There is an overwhelming need for well-trained and educated students in the field of agriculture and life science. That is why CALS has developed several new initiatives to attract and retain 2 year, undergrad, and graduate students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternative Pathways Programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through the Student Access Initiative<\/a> CALS created additional opportunities and pathways for students to enter CALS. As a result of this initiative there are now significantly more students accepted into CALS programs from Tier 1 and Tier 2 communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preparing students for high-need agricultural positions.<\/h2>

In 2021, the Golden LEAF Foundation<\/a> awarded nearly $1 million to NC State\u2019s Agricultural Institute (AGI), a two-year program that prepares students for careers in agriculture. The funds, which will be used over five years, will support the animal agriculture industry by expanding the pipeline of available talent for jobs.<\/p>\n
