{"id":18023,"date":"2025-03-18T13:29:13","date_gmt":"2025-03-18T17:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/business-operations\/?p=18023"},"modified":"2025-03-18T13:29:14","modified_gmt":"2025-03-18T17:29:14","slug":"u-s-dhhs-payment-management-system-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/units.cals.ncsu.edu\/business-operations\/news\/u-s-dhhs-payment-management-system-update\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. DHHS Payment Management System Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Per notification from NASA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/agencies\/hhs-agencies-and-offices\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U.S. Department of Health and Human Services<\/a> <strong>Payment Management System (PMS)<\/strong> has sent information to users that a<strong> new mandatory field <\/strong>has been introduced in association with Executive Order (EO) 14222, titled \u201cImplementing the President&#8217;s \u2018Department of Government Efficiency\u2019 Cost Efficiency Initiative,\u201d issued February 26, 2025.<strong> The new mandatory field can be found in the payment request screen at the subaccount level, effective March 17, 2025. This field, limited to 1,000 characters, will capture a justification from the Grant Recipient explaining the purpose of the payment.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agencies include: CDC, NIH, FDA (NASA uses payment system) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/agencies\/hhs-agencies-and-offices\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/agencies\/hhs-agencies-and-offices\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, PIs will be asked to provide the justification related to the payment request as part of the invoice process. Those with funding from the above sponsors will receive an email from CALS C&amp;G Post Award sharing the recent U.S. DHHS PMS information.
